RE: Cold Side Dish?

Look up Brocolli Slaw by Paula Dean on Food Network. Great oriental slaw with crunchy Ramen noodles and almonds. Use apple cider vinegar, it was a hit at a family get together. For a lower fat version, I substitute 1/4 water for 1/4 cup of the oil and brown the noodles in the oven.
Here is a great black bean salad. You can substitute shredded red red cabbage for avacados and it is just as good. I add a little cumin too.
Black Bean Avocado Salad
1/4 cup Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
2 tablespoons Lime Juice
1 tablespoon Grainy Mustard (I use about 1 tsp dijon)
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Pepper
1 can (19 ounces) Black Beans
1/2 cup chopped Red Onion (I use about 1/4 cup)
1/2 cup Frozen Corn, thawed ( I double)
1 Sweet Red Bell Pepper, chopped (optional)
1 Avocado, peeled and chopped
1 clove Garlic, minced (I used powder)
2 tablespoons chopped Fresh Coriander
In large serving bowl, whisk extra-virgin olive oil, lemon juice, mustard, salt and pepper.
Add black beans, red onion, corn, red pepper, avocado, garlic and coriander. Toss to combine
Both cold dishes.

RE: Reese 16K Hitch Issue...Locking Bar Release?

We have this problem everytime, we have to back up slightly to relieve pressure. We have owned this hitch for 7 years. The other day we took our camper to the dealer for work, and as I was trying to pull the handle, it snapped in two. Thank goodness we were at the dealer, they gave us a new handle.

RE: GPS Route

The fastest will normally get you more interstate travel. But there have been times that shortest is not really the shortest. It is really a hit or miss situation. Just try using both and look at the route to see what it does. If you can look at your route on Mapsorce first it is easier to see a bigger picture. I have thisncapability with my Garmin, so I very rarely use the Garmin itself to route my trips. I only use the Garmin to route daytrips or find the nearest gas or grocery store. I know for a fact that it sometimes sends you the long way regardless of the settings. I have used it to get Home from different locations and it never sends me the shortest route. It doesn't seem to like the road I use the most (Which probably has to do with the type of roads settings established).

RE: Coloring in the United States Map

We add a state if we stayed the night with our RV. We don't count drive throughs. We also can't seem to manage WV, as you can see we circled Idaho too.

RE: Anyone cancelling trips due to gas prices?

What the heck, life is short. Like the sticker on some RV's say "I'm spending my children's inheritance". They'll just blow it on foolishness, why not me? I earned it, and I did without all those years to live the good life. It will just cost a little more than we expected.
On a serious note, I really feel for those that have to cut back. As I am sure most of them are younger families having other obligations more pressing. I really hope things improve so they can get back to enjoying their vacations, that I am sure are truly needed.

RE: Questions About Mississippi Gulf Coast and New Orleans

The coast has a long way to go. The beaches are there and cleaned up, not as busy as they once were. Bay St Louis has returned pretty good along Hwy 90, but the rest of Hwy 90 going towards Biloxi is a little desolate. Most of that area was restaurants, hotels, and private residences. The casinos are really about all that has returned in full along Hwy 90. But that will soon change, both bridges connecting Hwy 90 are completely opened. We were in Biloxi the other day and they finally opened a McDonalds on Hwy 90. That and Waffle House were the only places to eat on Hwy 90 by the casions, other than the casinos.
New Orleans and The French Quarter is fully functional. If you are a history buff, make sure you visit the World War II Museum.

RE: Bay St Louis Ms RV park (old KOA)

How was the campground at Silver Slipper? I heard it was just a parking lot, have not seen it.

RE: Louisiana I-20 any better than I-10?

Drove I-10 from Lake Charles to Baton Rouge last week. Construction still going on, road terrible from Lake Charles to Ex 44 (about mid-way to Crowley), from there finished. Can't tell you what the condition is towards TX, I would figure still bad, seems they are working in that direction. Road still bad from Lafayette to raised portion (Atchafalaya Basin).
Been awhile, but I-20 is bad too, maybe not as bad.

RE: Battery Boiling

Thanks for all the responses, it is headed back to the dealer so I'll just add this to my list. Make sure I at least get a new battery.
But should I be concerned when plugged into 50 amps if I am drawing too much voltage?

Battery Boiling

When I returned from my trip I noticed my battery was extremely hot to touch. I checked it and some of the cells were boiling. I was wondering if it could have been caused by the high voltage I was getting in the camper. Our voltage meter was reading slightly into the red on the high side of the meter. We were plugged in 50 amps.

RE: Your favorite COE CG in Arkansas.

Thanks, we will probably mix it up with state and COE. I guess I better make some definite plans and make reservations.
